Our Founder

Monique Ryan-Musacchio / creative director

Born in Malawi, with European roots, founder and creative director Monique incorporates her international background and interests in travel and soulful living into her exquisite interiors.

Having received her certification from the Interior Design Institute, she has worked throughout New South Wales for fifteen years, with her designs featuring in a variety of prestigious Australian and UK magazines.

Now based in the Snowy Mountains, Monique is excited to meet new clients and share her energy and ideas on how to live better with the old, the renewed and the new.

What's in a name?

Monique's approach to relaxed, authentic and beautiful renovations stem from her early life growing up in Malawi (E.Africa), and so too does the business name. Meaning "homes for tomorrow"in local Malawi language Chichewa, the ethos of Nyumba Mawa is in its' name. Monique has a strong belief that buildings (heritage or modern) can be future-proofed through design and build to be enjoyed by future generations.
