A core part of our service is the construction phase - it’s where the vision of your project starts to take shape, but it’s crucial to have your interior designer involved throughout the process.   We work along side and collaborate with the builder, joiner, tiler, stonemason, electrician, plumber, and landscaper to ensure the design intent is executed to the highest possible standard.  What does this mean for you? Not fielding the daily phone calls and site meetings to confirm tile lay direction, tap heights, electrical points, etc.  We answer the questions, make the educated decision and take the overwhelm out of the build process, so you can breathe easy knowing it’s all being taken care of - guaranteeing the final result matches the vision. Last week’s supplier visit, surrounded in my favourite material, reclaimed timber @thetablemaker_co Love the finished tones we’ve got to with this oregon by pulling back the peach and adding a hint of dark stain to reignite the older ‘worn’ look (swift 🔚 to see early days of install on site).

Fun briefs with flare and hot off the press! We have just placed an order for one of our Clients for this new divine collab range from @cocorepublic and @businessandpleasure_co

As part of a larger brief for an extensive modern art deco country home, these recently launched elegant pieces bring that vintage flare to our Clients’ poolside setting.

They had me with the scalloped umbrella trims and peachy coral tones with elegant contrasting piped finish. Oh, and did you catch lines of the framework, reminiscent of gentle lapping waves on a hot summer night. 🫠

Expecting Leonardo DiCaprio to be free with the delivery! 😜

Preparation is your key to FUN on photoshoots!

Working on product and lifestyle shoots is an art. You're under the pump to push out anywhere between 5 to 20 scene set-ups, and each of those will have multiple layers of detail in decor and accessories to deliver up to 100-200 individual images from the day.

Add to that you've generally travelled to a location property with a truck of product and support decor - by the time the day starts, you're seeing stars and can't remember your last meal!

Over the last ten years Monique has collaborated with multiple talented and renowned stylists, designers and photographers - each day always memorable for the beautiful final images.....and the laughs and fun along the way. 😉

Looking back on one of our favourite laundry/mudroom renovations where this room went from a dark and damp space under a garage, to a light, bright and airy hideaway! We punched a cute window with a sneaky ocean view down the side of the property, kept joinery simple and traditional, added a few winks to coastal living through hardware and decor, and gave winter laundry days and soggy weekends a pimp with a small underfloor heating system.

Meaning "homes for tomorrow" in local Malawi language Chichewa, the ethos of Nyumba Mawa is in its' name. Monique has a strong belief that buildings (heritage or modern) can be future-proofed through design and build to be enjoyed by future generations.
